This summer hasn’t been a normal one by any stretch of the imagination. This year has been unlike any other we’ve faced, but there’s still time to make this summer one that you remember for all the right reasons.
As the time for fun in the sun winds down, it becomes imperative that you soak up the rays as much as possible. There are some activities that no summer is complete without. Continue reading to find out what eight things you must do before the end of the summer.
1. Prepare your Home for Next Summer.
It’s never too early to start preparing—next summer will be around the corner before you know it, and you want to be ready. This summer may have been thrown off track by COVID-19, but you should anticipate things being much closer to normal by next summer.
With that being said, you should be able to get back to entertaining guests in “Summer 2021.” If your A.C. isn’t running up to par, then now is the perfect time to get it fixed.
Labor Day is coming soon, and that means there will be plenty of Labor Day sales and deals. Air conditioning installation companies will be vying for your business, meaning they may repair or replace your system for a fraction of the cost.
2. Throw a Pool Party.
There’s nothing like throwing a pool party to celebrate the summer. Throw a soiree and invite some friends over to cool off in the pool with some light drinks and music.
Even if you don’t have a pool, then now is the time to get a pool built for next summer. Keep in mind, it takes between 2 and 3 months to build an inground pool. An experienced company like Lakeland Pool Builders can have your project finished by the middle of fall. That leaves plenty of time to throw a legendary poolside bash to open “Summer 2021.”

3. Throw a Barbecue.
Florida is more than just beaches, the everglades, and alligators. Floridians know how to throw a mean barbecue as well. With Labor Day around the corner, now is the time to bring the grill out and throw some burgers and dogs on the fire.
4. Take a trip to the nearest lake, river, or beach.
The dog days of summer are almost gone, and that means you don’t have much time to take advantage of longer, warmer days. Head to the nearest body of water ASAP, and that’s an order from Dr. Summer. There’s nothing like a day at the lake, river, or beach to relax and rejuvenate you.
5. Take a Road Trip.
The end of the summer is the perfect time to take a road trip before getting back to the normal humdrum. Round up some friends, pick a destination, and hit the road. Roadtrips provide great memories, pictures, and hope for more of the same in the future.

6. Read a Book.
If you’re social distancing and sheltering in place due to COVID-19, then there are still ways to maximize the time left in your summer. One way to take advantage of theses last weeks of the beach and barbecue season is to read a book.
Take a seat under your favorite shade tree and get lost in the pages of a great novel or nonfiction book. It’s amazing what some sun and literature can do for your spirit.
7. Take a Family Vacation.
Even though there’s only a little more than a month left in the summer, it isn’t too late to take the family on a vacation. One of the best things about Florida is that you don’t have to leave home to have a memorable vacay. Disney World is open and so are many beaches and resorts. Take the family on a weekend getaway that will make them forget the COVID-19 blues.
