As the holiday season approaches, a favorite activity to do with your family might be watching a Christmas classic, eating a few cookies, and drinking a cup of hot cocoa. Tim Allen is Scott Calvin in this heartwarming comedy about a little boy who wants to still believe in Santa. When Santa falls off of Calvin’s roof, Calvin himself has to take the role of Santa. After going to the North Pole and meeting the elves, he soon experiences changes that he can’t deny along with a feeling in his heart that he is the jolly old man in a red suit.
“A Christmas Story”
Ralphie Parker is the center of this story as he spends quite a bit of time trying to avoid a bully. He’s also thinking about the perfect Christmas present, which is a Red Ryder Air Rifle. With his parents treating him differently, Ralphie simply tries to get through each day without getting beat up so that he can enjoy at least one day out of the year.
“Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer”
What Christmas season is complete without watching this classic? The animated movie begins when Rudolph is born and Santa sees his red nose. His father tries to hide his nose, but it doesn’t work, so Rudolph decides to leave home because he thinks that he’s a misfit. Clarice decides to go with him, and on their travels, they meet Yukon and the Abominable. They also find themselves on the Island of Misfit Toys and discover that everyone has a special gift that sets them apart, which is what leads Rudolph to save Christmas for everyone.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas”
The Peanuts gang gathers together to star in a play. Charlie Brown tries to get everyone to realize what the holiday is really all about instead of focusing on the lights, trees, and presents.
“Home Alone”
Kevin is left home alone when his family leaves to go to Paris for Christmas. At first, Kevin enjoys being alone. However, when two bandits try to break into his house, he has to think of creative ways to protect the family’s belongings until his family comes home to him.
“It’s a Wonderful Life”
A black and white classic, this movie is about George Bailey, a man who loses quite a bit of money that was supposed to be deposited in the bank. When he decides to end his life, an angel saves him and shows him what life would be like without him for his family and friends.
“Miracle On 34th Street”
A man who looks and acts like Santa Claus claims that he is the real thing when a department store asks him to be their store Santa. This doesn’t sit well with members of the community who try to bring charges against him. With the help of a little girl who still believes, the truth about what to believe in comes out in the courtroom.
“The Polar Express”
When a young boy has trouble believing in Santa, he embarks on a train journey with a few friends to the North Pole. While there, he learns that Santa is real and that sometimes, you have to believe in things that you can’t always see.
