Get Your Google Data
Google has opened up an API to allow third parties to access Google Accounts data (with the user's permission, of course.) Here's what Google has to say about what they're calling Account Authentication:
[W]e welcome the development of applications that rely on and communicate with Google services. However, many of these services require that users log into their Google Accounts, and authentication by outside applications has been--until now--somewhat cumbersome. To improve this experience, we are pleased to offer alternatives for Google Account authentication.
This certainly opens up some interesting possibilities for attention services looking build upon or integrate Google Account data. Thanks to Rob Edwards for the heads-up.
